Super Mario World 2-A to 2-4 Walkthrough
World 2-A
Step 1
Spike Bass patrol the waters here. Fire Mario can blast them out of the sea, but other Mario forms need to kick a carefully timed Koopa shell to destroy them. This is only a temporary solution, however – a replacement will appear a few seconds later.
Step 2
Use the Spin Blocks to fire yourself into the sky and glide into dozens of coins. Press down at any time to perform a spinning drill stomp.
Step 3
Reaching the final Star Coin and alternate warp-cannon exit won’t be easy. Use the nearest Spin Block to propel yourself upward, then glide down at point 3. When the Koopa is on the right side of the platform, land on it – you will bounce to the ledge where the yellow pipe is.
World 2-4
Step 1
The ? Switches in this level make flat earth swell into hills, giving you access to otherwise unreachable spots.
Step 2
Only Mini Mario can squeeze through this pipe to the alternate exit. You cannot swim into it – you need to dash along the water’s surface.
Step 3
The P Switch will make a number of coins appear. Since there is nothing to gain from the newly created blocks, you have time to grab them all.
Step 4
The red pipe will lead you to this area, where a ? Switch will create a hill to let you reach the exit. Grab the Star Coin before you hit the switch, or you won’t be able to reach it.
Step 5
Hit the block at point 5 to reveal a ? Switch that raises two hills to the right. You will need to jump from the second hill to get onto the ledge at the end, but the Piranha Plants will make it hard to proceed. If you have a Fire Flower in reserve, use it to clear a path.
Step 6
Both Hammer Bros guard the final Star Coin. Either jump onto the top row rom the ledge, where you can Ground-Pound through the blocks to hit them from above. Alternatively, to whack them from below, you can hit the blocks they are standing on.
Step 7
It is not easy, but if you can stomp the Koopa so its shell lands on the lip of a step, you can jump straight onto it and kick it repeatedly against the step for infinite 1-Ups. If you screw up, run left a bit to make the Koopa reappear.
